Lot Description
1891 Liberty Half Eagle. MS-65 (NGC). CAC. This satiny honey-gold Gem displays lively luster and a whisper of pale rose iridescence throughout. Sharply and evenly struck from noticeably clashed dies. Only faintly marked with no serious blemishes that draw the viewer's eye; what few marks there are can only be detected under low magnification. This Gem 1891 half eagle is tied for the finest certified by PCGS. Although 61,350 were struck for circulation, nearly all were used in commerce at the time. The result is that Gems are exceedingly rare. The present coin will make a grand addition to a specialized cabinet.
