1852 N-18 R3 PCGS graded MS64 Brown.Lustrous light steel brown with peeps of faded mint red on the obverse and at least 5% of the reverse showing mellowed mint color. Sharply struck with radial lines in all the stars. Just a few minor marks including a spot of reddish verdigris in the field touching the main curl and a tiny tick on the nose before the eye. EDS, die state a early. The short horizontal dashes at the dentil tips below the 1 & 8 are clear as are the two lumps on the bust above the 8 (the top of a stray 1 punched in twice). A neat variety in a die state that allows you to see the die-cutter errors clearly. Our grade is MS60,tied for CC#8 in the Grellman census. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 3 finer: 2 in 65, 1 in 66. Estimated Value $400 - UP
