1797 Liberty Cap Half Cent. C-1. Rarity-2. Manley Die State 4.0. 1 Above 1, Plain Edge--Overstruck on a Talbot, Allum & Lee Cent--AU-53 BN (NGC). Deep chestnut brown with deeper highlights. Numerous scratches and marks come to light under low magnification. Obverse die crack from rim through B and into Liberty's tresses. Traces of the Talbot, Allum & Lee undertype are seen on the obverse rim at 5 o'clock and on the reverse rim at 3 o'clock near ER. PCGS# 35101. Provenance: From the Wilmington Collection of Half Cents.
