Lot Description
1853 Liberty Seated Quarter. No Arrows or Rays. Briggs 1-A, FS-301. Repunched Date. AU-50 (PCGS). Bright, brilliant surfaces are boldly to sharply defined throughout with plenty of lively mint luster remaining. This is a scarce to rare issue in all grades, the limited mintage of 44,200 pieces achieved in two deliveries on February 7 and 19, 1853. As the 1853 No Arrows quarter was struck before the Act of February 21, 1853 reduced the weight of this denomination, most examples were eventually melted for their bullion value. The present example, a conditionally rare AU is sure to find many willing buyers among advanced Liberty Seated quarter enthusiasts. PCGS# 5421. NGC ID: 23TA.
