Lot Description

A fantastically original specimen with golden-gray patina offset by vivid cobalt and pink at the extreme peripheries. Highly lustrous and well struck, there is much to recommend this Choice Capped Bust half dollar to the dedicated collector of the series, not least of which is the fact that it is tied for CC#3 for the 1819 O-109 dies according to the Autumn 2024 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR. While the 1819 as an issue has a healthy number of Mint State coins extant, seldom are they preserved at this level with this kind of eye appeal. Die State 109.2.
