1878 Shield Nickel. Proof-65 (PCGS). CAC. Brilliant with a bright silver-gray appearance, this charming specimen is a conditionally scarce survivor from a Proof-only mintage of 2,350 coins. Fully struck with a frosty to semi-reflective finish from the dies. Provenance: From the Jerome S. Reznick Collection. Earlier from our (Stack's) Arthur B. Stewart Collection sale, May 1972, lot 248.
