Undated (ca. 1652-1674) St. Patrick Farthing. Martin 1c.24-Ca.12, W-11500. Rarity-7+. Copper. Nothing Below King. VF-20 (PCGS). 85.2 grains. Choice glossy light brown with a bright splasher positioned a tad high but partially on its mark. A pleasing coin with mostly smooth, hard surfaces and bold detail. There are just a few light marks in the right obverse fields and some weakness of strike at the centers where on the obverse some of the rough original planchet texture did not get fully smoothed out by the strike. Syd Martin recorded just four examples, and this one is plated in his reference to illustrate both the obverse and reverse dies. Provenance: From the Norman G. Peters Collection. PCGS# 42.
