Lot Description

A generally walnut-brown example with a blush of deeper charcoal tinting at the lower left reverse border. As well, we note a few swirls of curious silver-gray color on the high points of the sundial and gnomon, but these are minimally distracting during in-hand viewing. The strike is well centered and sharp, the texture generally smooth in the presence of minimal planchet pitting that finds greatest expression on the obverse at the sun face and rays. A respectable PCGS-certified Choice EF for this Newman number which, despite its modest Rarity-3 rating, is conditionally challenged with only one universally recognized Mint State coin known.
