1840-O Seated Liberty Half Dollar. WB-104. Large O. MS-63 (PCGS). Moderately scarce in circulated grades, the 1840-O is a rare-to-very rare Seated Half Dollar in Mint State. We offer here a generally sharp Choice Unc with a soft, satiny texture to both sides. Golden-apricot iridescence on the reverse yields to warmer slate-gray tinting on the obverse. Both sides are quite smooth for the grade, although the obverse could be a bit more vibrant in the luster category. A fleeting bidding opportunity for the advanced collector of New Orleans Mint and/or Seated Liberty coinage.
