1840-O Liberty Seated Half Dime. Drapery. AU-53 (PCGS). Fully brilliant and pearly with a faint golden shimmer across the surfaces. Satiny in texture with bold detail over most design elements, this is an impressive AU for an issue that is scarce to rare in all grades. From a mintage of just 240,000 pieces, EF and AU survivors ranked Rarity-6 by Al Blythe in the 1992 reference The Complete Guide to Liberty Seated Half Dimes. Only 17 have been graded finer by PCGS.
