Lot Description

1850 Braided Hair Cent. N-17. Rarity-4. MS-65 BN (NGC). Flashy surfaces with bold cartwheel luster and peeps of bright mint red at the obverse stars and within the letters of LIBERTY. Predominantly toned to an even chocolate-brown with steel overtones, there are no distracting spots and just a few light abrasions in the obverse fields. A noteworthy specimen of the scarce Newcomb-17 die variety and one of just six mint state examples recorded by Grellman. Sharply struck MDS (a) and there are as-made low spots within the left side of the wreath on the reverse. PCGS# 1889. NGC ID: 226G. Click here for certification details from NGC.
