Lot Description

The Blackhawk Collection. 8 graded MS-66+. 4 higher (all MS-67) at NGC. Bountiful, brilliant silver-white luster rotates with astonishing energy around the devices. Nearly all 1865 examples were struck off of clashed dies, including this one, as evidence clearly shows on the reverse, joined by faint clashes on the obverse. Delicate greyish pepper flecks appear under a loupe but can't really be detected at normal viewing advantage.
