1854 Kellogg & Co. $20 Gold. K-1b. Rarity-5. Short Arrows. MS-62 (NGC). A lovely Mint State example of this desirable Gold Rush coinage. The surfaces are satiny and highly lustrous, far more so than typically seen, even on coins graded Mint State. Active cartwheels are seen on both sides. Nicely struck with sharp central details, as well as fully defined star centers around the obverse periphery. A few trivial marks serve to easily identify this coin as the John Jay Pittman Collection coin. Very attractive and worthy of another fine cabinet.
