- 1872-CC Seated Liberty Half Dollar. WB-101. AU-55 (PCGS). CAC. While not as rare as the 1870-CC (especially) or the 1871-CC, the 1872-CC is still a key-date Seated Half Dollar that is very scarce-to-rare in all grades. Given the paucity of Mint State survivors in numismatic hands, the importance of this appealing Choice AU cannot be overstated. Minimally worn with only the lightest rub to the highpoints, the devices present as sharply defined from a well-executed strike. There is a base of lighter slate-gray patina on both sides, over which bolder olive-copper highlights are noted, particularly on the obverse. With no outwardly distracting abrasions, this rare piece is sure to appeal to an entire legion of CC-mint and/or Seated Liberty experts.
